Privacy policy
Last updated: 2026-10-24
This policy explains how Véloce Direct, doing business as Veloce Direct (“we”), collects, uses, shares, keeps and protects personal information, in accordance with Québec’s Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector and the applicable federal law.
1. Person in charge of personal information
The person in charge is the President. For any question, request or complaint: info@velocedirect.ca.
2. Information we collect
- Customers: email address, name, company, phone and language.
- Deliveries: pickup and delivery addresses, names and phone numbers of the people to contact, description of the shipment, notes, price and delivery history.
- Proof of pickup and delivery: name of the person who hands over or receives the shipment, recipient’s signature, photos of the shipment or of where it was left (which may show a door or a building), time and GPS position of the vehicle.
- Payment: processed by Stripe. We only receive a payment reference and its status; we never see or keep your card number.
- Drivers: name, contact details, vehicle and, while the Traccar Client app is on, the phone’s GPS position, speed and battery level.
- Technical data: IP address and the cookies needed for the site to work (see section 8).
3. Why we use it
- Calculate the price, book and dispatch the delivery to the closest available driver.
- Carry out the delivery, show its tracking and send you email updates.
- Keep proof of pickup and delivery, and handle claims.
- Collect payments, invoice and meet our tax and legal obligations.
- Keep the site secure and prevent fraud and abuse.
We do not use your information for advertising and we do not sell it.
4. Consent
By booking, you consent to our use of this information for the purposes above. The recipient and the person handing over the shipment consent to their name, signature and photos being taken at handover. You may withdraw your consent by writing to us; we may then no longer be able to provide the service.
5. Who has access
- Our drivers: only the information needed for the delivery assigned to them.
- People you share the tracking link with: status, addresses, estimated times and the vehicle’s approximate position, without contact details or proof of delivery.
- Our service providers, who process information on our behalf: Stripe (payments), Google (maps, address search, route calculation and, where applicable, sending emails), Cloudflare (bot protection) and our web host.
Some of these providers keep information outside Québec, including in the United States. Before entrusting information to them, we assess whether it will be adequately protected, and we make sure by contract that they use it only to provide their services to us.
We may also share information when required by law.
6. How long we keep it
- Photos, signatures and names from proof of delivery: 365 days, then deleted automatically.
- Drivers’ GPS positions: 90 days.
- Login links and codes: a few minutes, deleted after 1 day.
- Deliveries, payments and invoices: 6 years after the end of the year concerned, as required by tax law.
- Customer account: as long as it is used; you can ask for it to be deleted at any time, except for records the law requires us to keep.
7. Security
The site uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Access to information is limited to people who need it. Photos and signatures are stored outside the public part of the site and can only be seen by the customer, the delivery’s driver and our administrators. If a confidentiality incident presents a risk of serious injury, we notify the Commission d’accès à l’information and the people concerned.
8. Cookies
We only use a session cookie (to keep you logged in and protect forms) and a cookie that remembers your language. We use no advertising cookies and no analytics tracking. Google maps and Cloudflare’s bot check, when shown, may collect your IP address under their own policies.
9. Your rights
You may ask to access your information, to have it corrected or deleted, to get a copy in a structured, commonly used technological format, or to withdraw your consent. Write to us at info@velocedirect.ca; we answer within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may file a complaint with the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec (https://www.cai.gouv.qc.ca) or, outside Québec, with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (https://www.priv.gc.ca).
10. Changes
We may change this policy. The date of the last update is shown at the top of the page.
